About 5 years ago, I received a great wound and I am still recovering from that wounding. Many of you have received significant wounds and I thought I would share some basic truths to hopefully help you in your journey to recovery.
* Healing takes time and usually, we don't want to give ourselves the time it takes to heal. So, I will tell you: You are precious and valuable, Beloved of the Father, Be kind to yourself and bask in the Father's Love for you - all the time, but especially during this time of healing.
* To the best of your ability, assess your wound. Look at yourself deeply and try to examine where the wounding actually occurred. To recognize the healing, you have to know what was wounded! Acknowledge any role you played in this, ask for God's forgiveness, accept His forgiveness and work to forgive yourself.
* Remember the Father's deep love for you. Remember, He loves you and only wants the best for you. He will bring the best for you out of your pain.
* Consider the concept of pruning the vine in John 15: Is there something that is being removed so you could be a more productive branch? In my case, I think He removed a very fruitful area of my life, so I could be much more fruitful in another area. Pruning can be incredibly painful.
* Consider reading "The Shack" by William P. Young. I am currently re-reading this and I am moved by how the Father meets Mac at the place of his pain. In fact He calls Mac to the place of the Great Sadness and meets him there in ways that are so special and tender to produce in Mac a great healing. Only God could orchestrate a healing that incredible. Only God can orchestrate your healing.
* Watch for the Father's hand in your life. Be super aware of how He is caring for you during this time. Be aware of the thoughts He is bringing to your mind. When we are in great pain, it is difficult to see good. We have to train ourselves to see the Hand of God; other wise, all we see is the negative and the pain. We have to look for the Holy and the good.
These are so simple but sometimes, when you are in great pain, it is the simple that ministers the best.
